TED: Ideas worth spreading

September 12, 2008

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an invitation-only event where the world’s leading thinkers and doers gather to find inspiration. Initially an annual conference, the scope of TED has expanded to include a bi-annual global conference, a humanitarian prize, and free audio/video podcasts of extraordinary talks.

The website www.ted.com contains videos and audios of some of the greatest thinkers, doers of our time.  I challange you to pick a category and not find something inspiring.

Topics span Technology, Entertainment, Design, Business, Science, Culture, Arts  and Global issues.  The people who participate… well talent highlighted within TED’s site is nothing short of amazing.  From David Rockwell to Al Gore to Michael Moschen to Benjamin Zander.

The Magic Happens

July 18, 2008

Just a year old The Magic Happens http://themagichappens.com/home.html is a quarterly online magazine that features authors from a variety of backgrounds.  The focus is on “Thriving Outloud”!   As it says on the web site:

Our Intentions For The Magic Happens:

  • To be an advocate of living now in personal freedom
  • To be an example to those who are seeking personal freedom
  • To provide entertaining, interesting and growth promoting content
  • To assemble a team of Thriving contributors to offer many examples
  • To speed up our personal growth through exposing ourselves
  • To reach one million or more readers by July 1, 2009

The articles are insightful, uplifting, personal, and touching.  If you go though the magazine without at least one Ah Ha! moment, you are reading too fast :)   Check out The Magic Happens and while you are there, read my first article for the magazine, introducing myself http://themagichappens.com/melissa.pdf

Balance Your Body at the Kitchen Table

June 5, 2008

Every Phenomenal Entrepreneur needs to keep their body balanced.  What better spot to pick up tips on living a balanced, healthy lifestyle then at Dr. Nicole’s Kitchen Table Medicine (http://www.kitchentablemedicine.com)?

The posts are chuck full of tips that range from dealing with skin issues to why you should be eating breakfast (hanging my head).  You will even find posts that ask What IS Beauty?  and Are you suffering from a terminal case of the “I can’ts”?

I have never been a pill popper and am always looking for natural remedies for various maladies.  I consider Dr. Nicole’s blog to be a very valuable resource.  I can’t tell you how much time I have saved NOT researching something, as she already had covered the topic.

The writing style is delightful, professional, personable and to the point.

So – if you are looking for a resource that helps you keep your mind and body in balance – Visit Kitchen Table Medicine and tell Dr. Nicole I said Hi!

It’s all in your Ya-ttitude

May 29, 2008

Blogger Benny Greenberg has been sharing his pearls of wisdom with the world at http://www.ya-ttitude.com/

His writing is a breath of fresh air.  He does not profess to be a guru of any sort; he shares his thoughts, experiences and insights in a relaxed, fun, light filled manner that really hits home.  You can tell he’s from Brooklyn – the man pulls no punches and cuts through the bull (and manages to make you chuckle in the process).

In his own words:

“Growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y. (the god-den spot of the universe) many may say I still carry that New Yorker accent with me wherever I go, and in that I decided that Ya-ttitude is the perfect blending of my accent, having a positive attitude and keeping the Yes part of life in focus as opposed to the two-year olds “no” approach.

You will not find me on the “speaking circuit” or on the “best sellers” list.  You will find me in one-on-one conversations or in a corporate sit-and-listen situation where I use my diverse background and often a few well-seasoned friend-experts to make positive changes in your company or your life. ”

Take a stroll on over to http://www.ya-ttitude.com/ and get yourself a ya-ttitude adjuesment.
